Abstract

Bu çalışma: ``Büyük Ortadoğu Projesi'nin Irak Savaşına Etkisi Bağlamında Kuramsal Bir Yaklaşım'', bu konuda yapılmış olan diğer çeşitli kaynakların bilimsel bir zeminde incelenmesi ile ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Bu amaçla Büyük Ortadoğu Projesi ve Irak Savaşı konusunda yayımlanmış olan kitap, dergi v.b. gibi kaynaklar ele alınarak incelenmiştir.11 Eylül sonrası, ABD'nin dış politikası terörizm üzerine yoğunlaşmıştır. Bu terörizmin kaynağını ABD, Ortadoğu Bölgesi olarak gördüğünü her fırsatta dile getirmiştir. ABD'nin saldırgan politikası, Afganistan savaşı sonrasında Irak savaşı ile sonuçlanmıştır. Irak Savaşı sonrası, Irak'ta yönetimi eline geçiren AB, Büyük Ortadoğu Projesi ile Ortadoğu'nun demokratikleştirilmesini istediğini açıklamıştır. Proje'nin demokrasi amacı bunun doğru olup olmadığı tartışma konusu olmuştur. Bu sorunun cevabı olarak ABD'nin başta bölgedeki ekonomik ve siyasal kazançlarının olduğunu söyleyebiliriz.Irak Savaşı, Büyük Ortadoğu Projesinin yapılmak istenen bir basamağını oluşturmaktadır. ABD bu Projenin gerçekleştirilmesi için öncelikle Irak'ı işgal etmiştir. İşgal sonrası Projenin demokratik hedeflerini gerçekleştirmek pek mümkün olamamıştır. Bölgeye demokrasinin gelmesi ise bir sorun olarak devam etmektedir.Bölgede demokrasinin oluşumunun sağlanmasının, Büyük Ortadoğu Projesinin hedeflerinin gerçekleştirilmesinin, bölgenin sosyo-kültürel düzeyi açısından kolay olmayacağı görünmektedir.
