İmalat sanayi fiyat beklentilerinin rasyonellik analizi 1992-2009

Abstract

Rasyonel beklentiler hipotezi, ekonomi ve finans çalışmalarında önemli bir rol oynamaktadır. Ancak bu hipotezin gerçek hayatla tutarlı olup olmadığını ampirik analizler ortaya koymaktadır. Bu çalışmada, rasyonel beklentiler hipotezinin Türkiye'deki imalat sanayi sektörü verileri için geçerliliğinin test edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Analizlerde 1992-2009 dönemi için Türkiye İstatistik Kurumu (TÜİK) tarafından raporlanan imalat sanayi eğilim istatistikleri ve bazı makroekonomik değişkenlerden yararlanılmıştır. Beklentilerin rasyonel olup olmadığı yansızlık, otokorelasyon, etkinlik ve ortogonallik testleri ile ölçülmüştür. Sonuç olarak, Türkiye'de beklentilerin toplam imalat sanayi ve bu sektörü oluşturan alt kalemler bazında rasyonel olmadığı tespit edilmiştir.

The rational expectation hypothesis, plays a significant role in economical and financial studies. However, whether this hypothesis is consistent with the real life or not is determined by empirical analysis. This study aims at testing the validity of the rational expectation hypothesis for the data of the sector of manufacturing industry in Turkey. In the analysis, we utilize the trend statistics of manufacturing industry which reported by Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) and some macroeconomical variables for the period 1992-2009. Whether the expectations are rational or not is measured by means of the tests of unbiasedness, autocorrelation, efficiency, and orthogonality. As a result, it is showed that the expectations for the total manufacturing industry and the sub-items composing this sector in Turkey are not rational.
