Türkiye'de eğitim-ekonomik büyüme ilişkisi (1950-2012)

Abstract

Yeni nesillerin sosyal hayata hazırlanırken gereksinim duyacağı bilgi, beceri, yetenek ve düzgün bir kişilik yapısı elde etmelerine yardım etme faaliyeti olarak tanımlanan eğitim, aynı zamanda bireyin davranışında kendiliğinden veya bir etkilenme sürecine bağlı olarak istendik değişme meydana getirebilme sürecidir. Bu çalışmada ilk olarak, kavramsal kuramsal çerçevede eğitim ile iktisadi büyüme arasındaki ilişkiler ele alınmıştır. Daha sonra, ikinci bölümde eğitim ile iktisadi büyüme ilişkisinin değişik ülke deneyimleri ile incelendiği literatür araştırması yapılmıştır. Son olarak çalışmada 1950-2012 döneminde Türkiye'de ekonomik büyüme ile eğitim değişkenleri incelenerek, uygulanan ekonometrik modellerle eğitimin Türkiye'nin ekonomik büyümesini ne yönde etkilediği belirlenmiştir. Sonuç olarak, Türkiye'de meslek liselerinin ekonomik büyüme ve ekonomik büyümenin yükseköğretim üzerinde; ayrıca genel liselerin ekonomik büyüme üzerinde pozitif bir etkiye sahip olduğu belirlenmiştir. Described as information, skill or understanding which the new generations will need in getting prepared for the social life and supporting activity to have a healthy character; education is a process of changing someone's behaviors spontaneously or intendedly, as well. The process of education is also formed by movements which aim to give shape to individuals in terms of social structure and to add his/her generally-intended changes to his/her behaviors and attitudes. Considering its consequences, education also has a responsibility of meeting the expectations of the society. In this study, firstly the relations between education and economic growth are analyzed in conceptual and theoretical framework. Then, in the second part, the relations between education and economic growth in the literature are reviewed for the various countries experience. Finally, the relations between education and economic growth during the period of 1950-2012 are studied; and the effect of the education on the economic growth in the Turkish economy are determined by applying econometric models. As a result, it is determined that not only there is strong and positive relation from the vocational high school to the economic growth but also from the economic growth to the higher education. At the same time, it is determined that there is positive relation from the general high school to the economic growth. Key Words: Education, Economic Growth, Causality-VAR Analysis, Turkey.
